Height of Land: A scenic place to rest your ashes
Height of Land
It is a scenic western Maine overlook in Franklin County on Hwy 17. It has an elevation of 2200 ft. Mooselookmeguntic Lake dominates the view from Height of Land. This pristine, 16,300-acre pool is Maine's second largest lake. Its tough-to-pronounce name is derived from a native Abanaki word meaning "portage to the moose feeding place." This view is considered one of the most mesmerizing in the state. With a pristine lake and majestic views of the White Mountain chain.
Still remote
You will be entering a land that is far from interstate highways and so hasn't changed much over the last few decades. It is a place where wildlife from moose to eagles have space to roam, where wild trout and land locked salmon thrive. The area consists of winding dirt roads and great fishing lakes. It is surrounded by mountains which has kept it largely undeveloped which has made it a fishing mecca. SO take a trip up to Height of Land overlook to see what could be the view from your final resting spot.
